Princess was commissioned by a friend of mine. She has particularly beautiful eyes. I have specialised in painting eyes since starting to paint properly in 2020. Black is effectively an absence of colour so it can be a real challenge to make a subject look 3D. I use Ultramarine Blue and Burnst Sienna to make black. Princess’ yellow background is quite important here as it contrasts with the dog’s black fur.
