In this painting called “The Toucan and her Chick”, it is important to focus on what’s happening (ie. the toucan is feeding her chick).

There’s a very clear distinction between the background (where it’s blurred) and the foreground (which is much sharper). This technique of blurring the background is known as the Bokeh effect in photography.
